Schwankhalle 4.5

Die Schwankhalle Bremen ist eine Spiel- und Produktionsstätte für die freien darstellenden Künste. Das Gebäude auf dem Areal der ehemaligen Remmer-Brauerei in der Bremer Neustadt wurde 2003 eröffnet und bis Sommer 2015 von verschiedenen Akteur_innen und Vereinen aus der Bremer Szene betrieben und bespielt. Seit der Wiedereröffnung unter neuer Leitung im September 2015 firmiert die Schwankhalle als Labor und Arbeitsraum für lokale, nationale und internationale Projekte und Kooperationen. Das neue Konzept baut auf der Idee und Tradition eines Künstlerhauses auf, das Künstler_innen Zeit, Raum und Unterstützung für transdisziplinäre und selbstbestimmte Recherche, Fortbildung und Entwicklung in einem inspirierenden Umfeld gibt.

Die Schwankhalle hat zwei voll ausgestattete Theatersäle mit einer Platzkapazität von 120 bzw. 80 Sitzen, ein Radiostudio, Probebühnen und Gästewohnungen. Seit 2012 wird der Trägerverein Neugier e.V. als Betreiber und Veranstalter institutionell durch den Bremer Senator für Kultur mit 755.800 Euro jährlich gefördert.

Die Schwankhalle ist Mitglied von vis-a-vis Neustadt, dem Clubverstäker Bremen, Stadtkultur Bremen und Klub Dialog und kooperiert mit Klankpool.

The Schwankhalle Bremen is a performance and production venue for the independent performing arts. The building on the grounds of the former Remmer brewery in the Bremer Neustadt opened in 2003 and was operated by various actors and associations of the Bremen scene until the summer of 2015. Since its reopening under a new direction in September 2015, the Schwankhalle has become a laboratory and working space for local, national and international projects and co-operations. The new concept is based on the idea and tradition of the artists’ residency providing artists with time, space and support for transdisciplinary and self-determined research, advanced training and development in an inspiring environment.
The Schwankhalle offers two fully equipped theatre halls with a capacity of 120 and 80 seats, a radio studio, rehearsal stages and accommodations for guests. Since 2012, the supporting association Neugier e.V. as the operator and organiser has been funded with 755,800 euros annually from Bremen’s Senator of Culture.
